British Bengali Chess Association’s Grand Tournament Showcases Chess Excellence in East London

London, August 23, 2023 – The British Bengali Chess Association (BBCA) hosted a thrilling ‘Rapid Chess Competition’ on August 20th at the Micro Business Park Center in Tower Hamlets, drawing chess enthusiasts from Greater London and neighboring cities.

Rukaiya Rida, a standout talent and participant in the Under-16 Chess Olympiad, gained attention with her exceptional performance. Sponsored by freedom fighters Mohammad Enamul Haque and Lokman Hossain, the tournament featured six rounds, with David Okiki securing the first prize.

The prize distribution ceremony, attended by key figures and special guests, highlighted the BBCA’s rich legacy since its establishment in 1916. The association, a multicultural hub, actively engages in esteemed competitions and welcomes chess enthusiasts every Sunday for practice and camaraderie.

Looking ahead, the BBCA is set to host the ECF Rated Rapid Chess Tournament on October 8th, continuing to foster the thriving chess community in East London.
